Airbus has passed a special milestone – production of the 100th Airbus A220-300 aircraft for its customer airBaltic, the Latvian airline. The brand new plane features a new and comfortable cabin layout with 149 seats plus a modernised livery.

This was also the special event for airBaltic which at the Airbus aircraft programme’s headquarters in Mirabel, Canada, celebrated its 21st Airbus A220-300 jet. As already mentioned, this 21st A220 was painted in a refreshed green colour, which, according to the airline, shows airBaltic’s commitment to becoming more sustainable airline.

airBaltic was the Airbus A220-300 launch operator in November 2016. The 21st plane is the first out of the additional order for the A220 aircraft signed on May 28, 2018. Till the end of 2019, airBaltic plans to have a total of 22 Airbus A220-300 aircraft in its fleet, but by the end of 2020 – 26.

The vision of an all-Airbus A220 fleet by 2023 is the backbone of airBaltic’s Destination 2025 business plan.

This way, with a total order for 50 A220s, airBaltic is the current biggest European A220 customer. airBaltic is operating its A220 fleet to various European and Russian destinations as well as to the Middle East. It currently operates the longest flight on an A220 – a 6.5-hour flight from Riga to Abu Dhabi.
