The European Aviation Safety Agency issued an airworthiness directive (AD 2016-0236) that places a life limit on CFM56-5C thrust reversers on certain Airbus A340s.
The AD corresponds to the Airbus A340-78-4049 service bulletin, which introduces a 20,000 flight cycles life limit for the affected thrust reversers and instructions for those requiring replacement.
This EASA AD takes effect Dec. 9, following its posting as a proposed AD on Oct. 24 for consultation through Nov. 21.
