Aeroflot A320 Passenger’s Powerbank Catches Fire

An Aeroflot Airbus A320-200, registration VQ-BPU performing flight SU-1182 from Moscow Sheremtyevo to Volgograd (Russia) with 150 passengers and 7 crew, had safely landed in Volgograd and had taxied to the apron.

While waiting for the disembarkation of passengers a passenger’s powerbank suffered a thermal runaway and caught fire.

Surrounding passengers poured bottles of water over the device temporarily extinguishing the flames, the thermal runaway however continued, the device re-ignited. Cabin crew finally reached the device, passengers and cabin crew poured additional water over the device, fire extinguishers were discharged and the device was put into a secure container.
