Fort Worth, Texas-based American Airlines has taken delivery of its first US-produced Airbus A321 from the Mobile, Alabama manufacturing facility.

American Airlines SVP-integrated operations David Seymour said having the Airbus final assembly line (FAL) in the US “has simplified our delivery process.

The American Airlines A321 had its first flight on April 19.

On April 25, Airbus delivered an A321 to New York-based JetBlue Airways, the first aircraft built at the Mobile FAL, which opened in 2015.

Toulouse-based Airbus said it anticipates delivering four aircraft per month from the Mobile plant by the end of 2017. Initial deliveries will all be A320ceo family aircraft, but Airbus will begin transitioning to neo derivatives in late 2017.
