At first, safety crisis created by the 737 MAX type. Now the coronavirus situation. Although Boeing is an old and experienced player on the market, it is difficult to imagine the scope of the problems the company is dealing with.

Especially grave appeared to be March 2020 performance. During the last month the airframer faced 150 order cancellations, and all for the troubled Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

Mainly this happened because of airlines adjusting the number of their operating aircraft with new bookings, to remain financially alive.

The major part of these cancellations lie on Avolon, aircraft lessor, which dropped the order for 75 MAX planes.

“Boeing continues to adjust its order book to adapt to lower-than-planned 737 MAX production in the near term”, the company said in a statement.

Therefore, in total Boeing recorded 49 orders during the first quarter of the year.

In terms of commercial aircraft deliveries through the first quarter of 2020, the period was not the most successful as well. In total there were only 50 deliveries: five 737s, ten 767, six 777s and 29 787 Dreamliners.
