easyJet, a British low-cost airline, has also felt an extraordinary pressure put on the aviation industry by the coronavirus and made a decision to ground almost all its aircraft cancelling 90% of its scheduled flights starting 24 March.

The airline still expects to maintain some of its key routes mainly to, from and within the UK. Nevertheless, the number of still remaining flights might change depending on the situation and the demand.

“These are unprecedented times for the airline industry. Significantly reducing our flying programme is the right thing to do when many countries have issued advice to their citizens not to travel unless it is essential and the aircraft groundings will also remove significant levels of variable costs at a time when this remains crucial”, said Johan Lundgren, easyJet CEO.
