Global AirRail Conference 2016
2016-11-09 @ 9:00 am - 2016-11-11 @ 4:00 pm
Each year the Global AirRail conference and the Global AirRail Awards attract air-rail professionals from all over the world.
Global AirRail events are dedicated to the growing passenger intermodality segment between air and rail, whether it’s physical infrastructure integration, innovations in travel booking and planning, improving passenger experience, or forming new partnerships between the two industries.
Helsinki’s new Ring Rail Line officially began operating on 1st of July 2015 connecting the capital’s main airport with Helsinki and the city of Vantaa. Construction of the €774 million Ring Rail Line began in 2009. The project involved building 18 kilometres of new track, 8 kilometres of which is in a tunnel. Five new stations – Vehkala, Kivistö, Aviapolis, Airport and Leinelä – connected two existing railway lines creating a loop between the Helsinki city and the Airport.
The Global AirRail 2016 event is co-hosted by Helsinki Airport and Finnish Transport Agency and will take a detailed look at the Ring Rail Line project, what challenges were met during the project delivery and what opportunities the new airport rail line will bring to Helsinki and Vantaa regions.
Other conference speakers will present major airport rail projects in Europe and rest of the World, will look at Transit Oriented Development, Community Engagement, Airline-Railway partnerships and Last Mile Connectivity.
