An Indian Air Force (IAF) jet has crashed after developing a snag during take-off at the Kalaikunda Air Force Station located at Kharagpur in West Bengal.

Both pilots safely ejected from the Hawk Advanced Jet Trainer (Hawk AJT).

The IAF has ordered a court of inquiry into the incident.

A Hawk AJT plane had earlier crashed on April 29, 2008 at Karnataka’s Bidar Air Force Station.

A second Hawk AJT aircraft had crashed last year in June near Baharagora near the West Bengal-Odisha border.

The plane can be used for training purposes and also as a low-cost combat aircraft.
