Michael Kaye Named New Head of Austrian Technik

Michael Kaye (50) has commenced work as the new Head of Austrian Airlines Technik effective May 1, 2016. In this capacity he succeeds Michael Delion, who has taken up a new position at Lufthansa Technik in Hamburg.

“With Michael Kaye we have been able to attract a top manager to work for Austrian Airlines. I am pleased that he will ensure the continued high standards and technical reliability of the Austrian Airlines fleet in the future”, says Austrian Airlines CEO Kay Kratky.

Born in Baltimore, USA, Michael Kaye started his professional career at Lufthansa Technik in Hamburg in 1988. He held various aircraft maintenance positions at the company until 1994, for example in the fields of planning, long-term strategies and IT. In 1995 he assumed management responsibilities in subcontract management and capacity planning. In the year 2000 he was appointed to serve as Purchasing Manager for Lufthansa Technik in Frankfurt. From 2002 to 2007, the top manager worked as Managing Director of Lufthansa Technik in Brussels, and also acted as Accountable Manager for public authorities for maintenance and repair work in accordance with EU guidelines (Part-145). Michael Kaye served as Technical Director of Germanwings between February 2007 and 2016 and also as Accountable Manager Part-145 since May 2008.
