Reading Time: < 1 minuteRussian Energy Minister Alexander Novak has confirmed an unspecified Iranian airline will shortly acquire twelve SSJ 100-95s from Sukhoi Civil Aircraft.
Earlier this year, the Mehr news agency quoted the Secretary of the Association of Iranian Airlines, Maqsoud Asadi Samani, as saying the Russian manufacturer had applied to the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Department of the Treasury for an export license concerning the sale of SuperJets to Iran. Sukhoi has not given any official comment on the alleged application thus far.
According to TASS, Novak told Rossiya24 news that the Russian Federation is also interested in establishing a facility to manufacture components for its aircraft if need be.
The proposal also includes the joint production of Il-114 modernized turboprop aircraft.
