A Ryanair Boeing 737-800, performing flight from Frankfurt Hahn (Germany) to Bari (Italy), gear strut penetrated wing during retraction.

• Aircraft was climbing out of Hahn Airport’s runway 21 when the crew selected the gear up but did not receive indication the gear came up properly.
• The crew stopped the climb at FL100 and returned to Frankfurt Hahn for a safe landing on runway 21 about 40 minutes after departure.
