Ryanair reported record bookings from American customers on its dedicated USA website, as it carried over 1 million US citizens across Europe during the summer season, a 50% rise on summer 2015.

Record numbers of US customers logged on to Ryanair’s dedicated American website, which enables flight bookings to be made in dollars, as more customers than ever abandoned Europe’s railways to ‘interplane’ across the continent on Ryanair’s low fares.

California residents flew most with Ryanair, followed by citizens of New York, Florida, Illinois and Texas, while the most popular routes booked were Dublin-Edinburgh, Athens-Santorini, Barcelona-Rome, Frankfurt Hahn-London Stansted and Dublin-Amsterdam.

Ryanair’s Robin Kiely said:

More than one million US citizens flew Ryanair during the summer, an increase of 50% over the previous summer, while we register a record number of visits and bookings on our dedicated American website. It is clear that US consumers are no longer inter-railing across the continent, but are choosing to fly, and with Ryanair’s low fares and largest route network, it’s easy to see why more customers then ever are choosing Ryanair. Our US website offers American customers the facility to plan their European breaks and pay in dollars, and continues to attract record visits. We look forward to carrying even more US customers in the coming months, on our US-built, all-Boeing fleet.
