A TuiFly Boeing 737-800 performing flight from Frankfurt/Main to Funchal (Portugal), was on final approach when a bird (reportedly a homing pigeon) impacted the nose of the aircraft.

The aircraft continued for a safe landing a few minutes later.

The aircraft was unable to depart for the return flight however due to the dent in the nose. The 160 passengers waiting for the return flight were taken to hotels.

The aircraft is still on the ground in Funchal about 14 hours after landing.
