A Qantas Airbus A330-200 performing flight QF-108 from Beijing (China) to Sydney, NS (Australia), was enroute over the Pacific Ocean near the island of Palau about 6 hours into the flight when the aircraft encountered turbulence causing injuries to three flight attendants.
The aircraft continued to Sydney for a safe landing about 5 hours later. Two flight attendants were treated at the airport, the third was taken to a hospital.
Passengers reported the flight attendants lifted off the floor during the turbulence and struck their heads at the overhead lockers.
There had been no warning ahead of the turbulence, the fasten seat belts were not illuminated. Everything loose also took off and struck the ceiling creating a mess throughout the cabin. The cabin ceiling and lockers received some damage as result of the turbulence encounter.
