Middle East carriers might need to brace themselves; Norwegian Air’s website suggests the carrier’s commencement of operations to Dubai is imminent.

The ultra low cost disruptor made a name for itself by flying passengers across the Atlantic, from Europe to the US, for as low as €54 (AED 236) and to the Caribbean for even less.

Now it’s website planner suggests non-stop flights from DXB to Stockholm Arlanda(ARN) and back are to commence on 2 October for as low as €125 (AED 550) one way and €236 (AED 1035) return. Emirates is the only regional carrier to fly direct to Stockholm from DXB; a one way flight on Emirates on 2 October is currently priced at AED 2,405.

Earlier in the year Emirates President, Sir Tim Clark, had warned of a “gathering storm” of low-cost carriers from Europe armed with fuel efficient planes that could fly further than before, saying, “You ain’t seen nothing yet.”
