Reading Time: < 1 minuteWizz Air, a Hungarian low-cost airline, has initiated the process for securing Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) and Olicence from the United Arab Emirates General Civil Aviation Authority, FlightGlobal reports.
The agreement on the airline’s establishment has been already signed by the budget carrier and its partner Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company.
According to the plan, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi should begin its operations already this autumn from Abu Dhabi International Airport.
The fleet as well as route network are yet to be unveiled. Meanwhile, recruitment activities are expected to start “in the coming months”. With a new airline Wizz Air aims to “boost Abu Dhabi’s aviation development”.
“Wizz Air’s mission feeds into Abu Dhabi’s diversified economic strategy as we aim to stimulate traffic by creating demand to the benefit of growing Abu Dhabi’s touristic and economic diversity“, said Wizz Air Holdings chief Jozsef Varadi.
Wizz Air Abu Dhabi will be the second low-coster announced in Abu Dhabi this year. Earlier such a plan was revealed by Etihad which aims to create a venture with Air Arabia. The Etihad-Air Arabia budget carrier should enter operations also in the second half of 2020.
