Reading Time: < 1 minuteAccording to the S.C. Department of Revenue (SCDOR), all seventeen employees turned themselves into authorities after they were charged with a “willful attempt to evade or defeat a tax”. Warrants were reportedly issued for two additional Boeing employees who did not turn themselves in.
“The individuals submitted fraudulent W-4 forms to their employer claiming to be exempt from South Carolina income taxes and failed to file state income tax return,” a news release from SCDOR stated.
Each employee was booked at the Charleston County, S.C. detention center and faces a fine of up to $10,000 and/ or up to five years in prison on each charge.
The seventeen employees arrested on Monday made off with $157,000 earmarked for state government coffers. All told, SCDOR has arrested 28 Boeing employees for making off with more than a quarter million dollars.
