Singapore Airlines, the flag carrier airline of Singapore, has grounded two of  its Boeing 787-10 aircraft due to pending Trent 1000 TEN engine replacements.

In the statement the airline said that “during recent routine inspections of Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 TEN engines on Singapore Airlines’ Boeing 787-10 fleet, premature blade deterioration was found on some engines”.

Thus, keeping safety as the highest priority, Singapore Airlines ordered precautionary inspections of all its Trent 1000 TEN engines on Boeing 787 fleet (Singapore Airlines and Scoot).

According to the Boeing website, Singapore Airlines has already 8 Dreamliners delivered and 47 still on order. Thus, the airline said in the statement that the removal of two aircraft has affected some flights served by the 787-10 fleet.

The airline is operating other aircraft on the affected flights, although with lower capacity.

“SIA is working closely with Rolls-Royce and the relevant authorities for any additional follow-up actions and precautionary measures that may be required going forward”, said the airline.
