Air New Zealand has finally agreed on the options for its long-haul fleet. It is Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner. According to the list prices, the value of the deal is $2.7 billion.

Earlier this month the airline revealed it is considering between Boeing 787 and Airbus A350 aircraft. The were also rumours about the Boeing new aircraft, 777X.

But here is the official answer: Air New  Zealand has chosen eight Dreamliners with an option to increase the number up to 20.

The airline also said it has also negotiated “substitution rights that allow a switch from the larger 787-10 aircraft to smaller 787-9s, or a combination of the two models for future fleet and network flexibility”.

The first of the ordered planes are to join the fleet already in 2022. While the fleet of eight 777-200 aircraft, the Dreamliners are aimed to replace, are about to be phased out by 2025.

Air New Zealand’s widebody fleet currently consists of 13 Boeing 787-9s, eight Boeing 777-200s and seven Boeing 777-300 aircraft. A 14th Boeing 787-9 will enter the fleet later this year.
