Reading Time: < 1 minuteAirAsia has received its first Airbus A330neo aircraft through the leasing company Avolon. The new widebody will be operated by AirAsia X Thailand, a long-haul affiliate of AirAsia.
According to Airbus, one more aircraft of this type is scheduled to be delivered to the airline by the end of this year. The statement says that the brand-new plane will be based at Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport in Thailand.
Offering 377 seats in a two-class configuration, comprising 12 Premium Flatbeds and 365 economy class seats, the newly received widebody will fly to such key markets as Australia, Japan and South Korea.
AirAsia together with AirAsia X operate a wholly Airbus fleet. For short-haul operations the airline uses Airbus A320ceo and A320neo types. For long-haul flights, in turn, AirAsia X operates 36 Airbus A330-300 planes. The airline has an order for 66 Airbus A330neo aircraft, which makes AirAsia X the largest A330neo customer worldwide as for now.
Also, according to Airbus orders & deliveries sheet, AirAsia X has on order 10 Airbus A350-900 aircraft.
