Caspian Airlines MD-80 Skids off Runway onto Highway

The Caspian Airlines MD-80, performing a flight from Tehran with 135 passengers and seven crew members, has overrun runway and came to rest on a highway at Mahshahr airport, Iran.

The images form the site show that the Iranian passenger plane landed on its fuselage in the middle of the road blocking the traffic. Video footage, in turn, shows passengers evacuating through different exists. As for now, no injuries are reported.

According to the Civil Aviation Organisation of Iran, the investigation into the accident has been launched.
