Boeing has announced deliveries for the Q2 and the first half of 2020. Global pandemic and ongoing 737 MAX troubles made obvious impacts. During the Q2 Boeing delivered only 20 aircraft, while a total for the first six months stands at only 70 units.

While many consider 737 aircraft program to be the most popular and successful, deliveries of 2020 are currently topped by the 787 type (9 Boeing 737 aircraft vs 36 Boeing 787 aircraft delivered during the six months of the year).

Apart from poor delivery results, Boeing also has problems on the orders’ front. New orders are coming slowly, cancellations, in turn, are springing up like mushrooms after the rain.

Boeing’s gross orders for 2020 through June now stand at 59, but net orders, including cancellations and conversions, stand at negative 323 planes. Boeing has now lost 784 net orders this year.

Mostly, the cancellations are led by the 737 MAX type. Only last month the planemaker said it had 60 more bookings for the type terminated by aircraft leasing companies. However, the company is working hard to return its troubled planes to the skies.

“Our commercial airplane deliveries in the second quarter reflect the significant impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on our customers and our operations that included a shutdown of our commercial airplane production for several weeks,” said Greg Smith, Boeing executive vice president of Enterprise Operations, chief financial officer and interim leader of Communications.
