Reading Time: < 1 minuteThe Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on Monday issued the first airworthiness certificate for Boeing 737 MAX built since March 2019, the agency announced.
On November 18th, the FAA cleared Boeing 737 MAX to fly again after the two deadly accidents killing 346 people throughout 2018 and 2019. Now it is requesting comprehensive software changes and mandates new pilot training requirements before the aircraft resumption.
“We expect to have a sufficient number of inspectors on hand to meet Boeing’s planned delivery schedule for the foreseeable future. We’ll defer to Boeing to discuss the company’s manufacturing and delivery plans,” FAA representative Lynn Lunsford said.
Last week the FAA granted its approval of American Airlines’ pilot training plan to be executed before returning Boeing 737 MAX to service. The airline preparing to relaunch Boeing 737 MAX operation on December 29th has already done numerous tests and upgrades to its grounded planes.
