Brazil’s GOL Airlines brings back commercial 737 MAX flights on December 9th, becoming the first airline in the world to make this step.

The GOL’s announcement came less than a week after American Airlines’ demonstrative 737 MAX’s flight, seeking to persuade passengers that the jet is safe to board after the lengthy recertification process in the wake of two deadly crashes.

GOL’s CEO Paulo Kakinoff said, “We are pleased about the return of the Boeing 737 MAX to our network”. “The MAX is one of the most efficient aircraft in aviation history and the only one to undergo a complete recertification process, ensuring the highest levels of safety and reliability. We reiterate our trust in Boeing,” he added.

Before the upcoming domestic routes to and from Sao Paulo, the airline organized simulator sessions for 140 of its pilots. The airline has seven 737 MAX aircraft in total in its fleet, all of which are planned to return to operation by the end of December.
