LOT plans to develop closer cooperation with tour operators, as a result of which it will make better use of its 787 Dreamliner.

As the demand for business travel has suffered a deep decline and LOT has suspended many of its long-haul routes, its wide-body aircraft has come to a standstill. To prevent this from continuing further, LOT has started signing agreements with tour operators and shifting its focus to tourism.

Through a tour operator Itaka, it will be operating Dreamliner flights to Zanzibar and the Dominican Republic. Through Rainbow, it expects to fly to the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Vietnam, Thailand, India, and, possibly, Sri Lanka.

The “Lot na vacation” campaign, which last summer offered over 100 routes from Warsaw and other regional airports to resorts in Greece, Croatia, Malta, and Italy, this year will grow even larger, with routes to Mykonos in Grece and Palermo in Sicily added to the list. In total, in 2021, LOT plans to transport one million tourists.

“There’s no other way. It must strongly focus on holiday destinations, because according to forecasts, aviation will rebound thanks to tourists. Later, interest in visiting family or friends will increase. The business movement will reproduce the slowest,“ says Adrian Furgalski, president of the TOR Economic Advisors Team.
