The Czech airline Smartwings will likely be the first one to relaunch Boeing 737 MAX in Europe. According to the carrier’s booking system, the route is scheduled for February 25, operating between Prague (PRG) and Palma de Mallorca (PMI).

Boeing 737 MAX’s first flight above the European skies will depart from PRG at 6.05 p.m. and arrive at PMI at 8.35 p.m. The plane will take off again at 9.20 p.m. The same route utilizing Boeing 737 MAX will be repeated on February 28.

Smartwings has seven Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in its fleet and has placed orders for 32 more. The airline expects deliveries over the coming four years. It received its first Boeing 37 MAX in January 2018, but due to the plane’s grounding in March 2019, the carrier did not have much time to grow accustomed to operating Boeing 737 MAX.

A 22-month grounding in Europe was lifted in late January, with EASA saying it has “every confidence” in the aircraft after the independent review. “But we will continue to monitor 737 MAX operations closely as the aircraft resumes service,” added executive director Patrick Ky.
