The French government has presented its strategy for the reopening of its borders for visitors from the EU and Schengen Area Member States and travelers from third countries.

Vaccinated arrivals from the green color-coded countries will be allowed to enter France without any requirement to indicate the purpose of entry, testing or quarantining. However, those who come from green list countries but are not vaccinated will have to present evidence of a negative PCR test or an antigen test taken not earlier than during the last 72 hours before the arrival.

As for the orange list, different rules apply. Those who are vaccinated are still asked to present a negative PCR test taken in the last 72 hours or an antigen test taken at some point within the previous 48 hours upon entering France. Not vaccinated travelers are only allowed to enter if they have a compelling purpose of entry. They will also have to present a PCR or an antigen test and take an additional antigen test upon arrival. Moreover, they will undergo a mandatory seven-day quarantine.

Arrivals from red category countries, both vaccinated and non-vaccinated, will need to have a firm purpose of entry, present test results taken within the last 48 hours and undergo antigen testing upon arrival. In addition, seven-day self-isolation applies for vaccinated visitors, and ten-day quarantine has to be followed by non-vaccinated individuals.

While airlines, such as Delta, boost their French long-haul operations due to France easing the entry, Air France has also added almost 100 weekly flights to its long-haul leisure destinations in areas such as the Caribbean. Aimed at allowing French residents to visit such locations, these flights will also inspire travel from these territories to France.
