Reading Time: < 1 minuteDuring the second quarter of 2021, the Panamanian operator Copa Airlines reported a net profit of US$28.1 million.
As the airline has only one domestic route and aviation is still severely affected by the pandemic, it is pretty surprising Copa managed to report a net profit.
However, it should be taken into account that excluding special items (a US$33.9 million gain related to Copa’s convertible notes and a passenger revenue adjustment of US$10.4 million), the company would have reported a net loss of US$16.2 million.
Two other carriers in Latin America who reported a net profit are Volaris and Viva Aerobus.
