The ultra-low-cost carrier Flair Airlines plans to expand its fleet to 30 aircraft by mid-2023, more than double the current size. It has announced it will take an additional 14 new Boeing 737 MAX 8 jets in the next year and a half.

The carrier already has 12 aircraft in service and will have 20 in service by summer 2022. The additional Boeing 737 MAX 8s are expected to arrive in 2023, quickly bringing Flair’s fleet to 30 aircraft. Flair CEO Stephen Jones told reporters during a Dec. 14 press conference that the latest order of aircraft will likely come from a “mix of lessors,” including one of its significant financiers, 777 Partners. By 2025, Flair plans to have a fleet of 50 aircraft.

Adding more Boeing 737 MAX 8s to its fleet makes the airline more sustainable while encountering considerable cost savings.

Flair Airlines operates to 32 destinations in Canada and the USA, with a new service to Mexico beginning in February 2022.
