EDM, a provider of training simulators to the civil aviation and defence sectors, has announced that the A350 and B767 door trainers it supplied to Ethiopian Airlines have passed their Site Acceptance Test (SAT).
EDM manufactured the two door trainers for Ethiopian Airlines as part of a major contract to supply a comprehensive range of state-of-the-art cabin crew training equipment. Installed at the airline’s brand new training facility at Bola International Airport in Addis Ababa, the Door Trainers will enable cabin crew to be fully trained in the safe operation of these two aircraft door types under normal, abnormal and emergency conditions. A senior team from Ethiopian Airlines granted the A350 and B767 Door Trainers their SAT last week after an in-depth inspection and testing process.
As part of the contract, EDM also supplied Ethiopian Airlines with a Bombardier Q400 Door Trainer in July this year. The Manchester-based company has also designed and manufactured a narrow-body B737 Cabin Emergency Evacuation Trainer (CEET) which arrived at Ethiopian Airlines’ training centre last month for installation onto an electric motion platform. EDM is also currently finishing the build of a wide-body hybrid B787 / B777 CEET which is due for completion this month.
