Reading Time: < 1 minuteUS regional carrier PSA Airlines has announced plans to open a new maintenance facility at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport in Q4 2016 to service its fleet expansion.
In just two years, PSA has more than doubled the size of its all Bombardier CRJ fleet from 49 to 115 aircraft and plans to eventually operate 150 of the aircraft.
With an existing building already in place at the site, PSA said it will only need to make “modest” enhancements to form the new 4,200m2 facility.
The Greenville facility will add to existing hangars at airports in Akron, Charlotte, Cincinnati and Dayton.
“The location of the Greenville facility is ideal for PSA Airlines as it is quite close to our largest hub operation at Charlotte and will afford unparalleled opportunities to attain synergies that can help mitigate operating costs,” said Kevin Reinhalter, vice-president – maintenance and engineering, PSA Airlines.
He added: “Greenville is a natural and cost-effective place for our aircraft to undergo overnight maintenance, given where American deploys our aircraft throughout their network.”
