Reading Time: < 1 minuteAeroflot has taken delivery of its 45th Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ 100). The aircraft is named in honour of the legendary Soviet pilot Alexey Maresyev. The Russian-built Sukhoi Superjet 100 is configured with 12 seats in business class and 75 seats in economy class.
The new SSJ100 will start operating on Aeroflot routes in the coming weeks. The name Alexey Maresyev is inscribed in Russian history thanks to the courage shown by the pilot during the Great Patriotic War.
As a result of a serious injury received on the front, A.Maresyev had both his legs amputated, but the legendary pilot returned to the front and continued to fight bravely for Russia. For his services he was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union. His example became the prototype for the main character of “The Story of a Real Man” by Boris Polevoy.
Aeroflot understands the importance of supporting Russian manufacturing and is currently the largest operator of Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft. The airline plans to expand its fleet of SSJ 100 aircraft, bringing the total number to 50.
The Sukhoi Superjet 100 planes will operate flights on Aeroflot routes within Russia, CIS countries and also to a number of European countries.
