Reading Time: < 1 minuteAirbus has finally completed the construction of A220 commercial aircraft final assembly line (FAL) in Mobile, Alabama, and officially opened it.
It is a 270,000-square-foot facility built for the production of both the A220-100 and A220-300 versions. At the same time it is yet another significant step in developing Airbus US production capabilities.
The inaugural Airbus A220 assembled in this new FAL will be destined for jetBlue, the second operator of the US-built A220 after Delta. The first components for the aircraft have already arrived and are ready to come together.
The construction plans of the facility dedicated to the A220 were first announced back in October 2017. Nevertheless, Airbus has been already building A220 in Mobile using existing FAL hangar for US-built A320 Family aircraft since August 2019.
The A220’s primary production facility and program headquarters are located in Mirabel, Canada.
