Reading Time: < 1 minuteAmerican Airlines has announced that it has agreed to take an additional 30 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. Deliveries of these 30 planes will take place in 2023 and 2024. In total, American will have 130 aircraft in its fleet after the newest MAX jets join it.
American Airlines was one of the first airlines to order the Boeing 737 MAX, and it was the first US operator to bring them back into revenue service. The 737 MAX plays an essential role in American’s fleet. The aircraft is put forward on a variety of short- and medium-haul domestic flights and is a key player on operations to Central America, the Caribbean, and South America.
At the same time, American said it would delay delivery of an undisclosed number of Boeing 787 jets scheduled to begin last month. Those deliveries fell through because of problems on the production line, and American said they will now start in the fourth quarter and run into 2027.
