Reading Time: < 1 minuteBombardier and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries admitted being in talks over the Bombardier’s Canadair Regional Jet (CRJ) program. No agreement has been reached yet.
“Before any agreement can be reached further review and analysis by Bombardier management and approval by Bombardier’s Board of Directors are required, and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. must complete its due diligence review and own analysis and approval process, which are outside of Bombardier’s control”, said Bombardier in a statement.
“There can be no assurance that any such discussions will ultimately lead to an agreement”, the aircraft manufacturer added.
Mitsubishi has been struggling with its own regional jet, the MRJ. Delivery has been delayed many times since it’s original projected date of 2013 and current revised target of 2020, so the acquisition of the Bombardier CRJ series would provide the Japanese manufacturer with the necessary expertise to assist with development and certification.
