Reading Time: < 1 minuteWhile evaluating Boeing’s software modification to the MCAS, the Federal Aviation Administration has detected “a potential risk” in the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft that the company must mitigate.
“The FAA is following a thorough process, not a prescribed timeline, for returning the Boeing 737 Max to passenger service. The FAA will lift the aircraft’s prohibition order when we deem it is safe to do so”, said the FAA.
Although it is not clear what the risk is, the Boeing company confirmed the FAA’s request on the additional requirement to software Boeing has been updating for the last eight months.
“Boeing agrees with the FAA’s decision and request, and is working on the required software. Addressing this condition will reduce pilot workload by accounting for a potential source of uncommanded stabilizer motion”, Boeing said.
