On Monday, 12th August, all departures from Hong Kong International Airport have been cancelled amid thousands of anti-government protesters who occupied the airport.
“Airport operations at Hong Kong International Airport have been seriously disrupted, all flights have been cancelled”, this is the statement published on the official website of one of the busiest airports in the world.
According to the Hong Kong Airport Authority, allowed are only the flights that have completed the procedure of check-in and the flights already heading to Hong Kong.
Thus, passengers travelling from, to or via the Hong Kong hub are advised to check their flight status prior to arriving at the airport.
