An Iberia Airbus A340-600, performing flight from Madrid (Spain) to Quito (Ecuador), touched down on Quito’s runway when the crew initiated a go around.
The aircraft entered a hold for about 20 minutes, positioned for another approach to runway and landed about 30 minutes after the go around. One of the main tyres was found blown after landing. The return flight was cancelled.
Sources in Latin America claim the tyre was blown during the first approach prompting the crew to reject the landing.
