A brand new Icelandic airline Niceair is launching flights between London Stansted and Akureyri within the north of Iceland to operate twice-weekly.

Niceair will begin working the route with a 150-seater Airbus A319 in an all-economy configuration from June third.

“The company’s goal is to secure scheduled flights year-round to foreign destinations from Akureyri Airport. That will simultaneously improve the quality of life for residents in the area, improve the access of foreign tourists to North Iceland, and last but not least, greatly improve the competitiveness of companies in the area,” the press release reads.

The Monday and Friday Stansted flights might be priced from as little as $305 (£240) return with the airline planning to begin flight gross sales from Manchester Airport in April.
