IndiGo, an Indian low-cost airline, announced it has chosen Insight Aviation as a partner for selection and training of future IndiGo pilots.

The largest airline in India by passengers carried and fleet size as of June 2019, IndiGo is actively getting ready to meet further fleet growth with a sufficient number of professionals.

According to a statement, the theoretical part of training will be delivered in Gurugram, India, while flight training will be conducted at Insight Aviation’s authorized Flight Training Organization (FTO) in Port Alfred, South Africa.

“Upon the return of cadets to India, Insight Aviation will manage the conversion of their South African CAA license into Indian DGCA license before they proceed to an authorized Aviation Training Organization (ATO) for a MCC and A320 Type Rating course”, IndiGo said.

Currently the airline operates a fleet of 238 aircraft offering over 1,400 daily flights and connecting 56 domestic as well as 19 international destinations. To satisfy the growing Indian aviation market, the airline has nearly 350 Airbus A320 Family aircraft still on order.

Correspondingly, the carrier partners with several aviation training providers to have the necessary number of pilots for new planes to operate. IndiGo also partners with CAE, L3, Flight Training Adelaide, Skyborn and Flightrule Aviation Services LLP.
