A MiG-27 aircraft of the Indian Air Force crashed into a house near Jodhpur city in Rajasthan on Monday. The pilot managed to escape without any injuries, Asian News International reported.

According to ANI, two houses were damaged in the crash, but no one was injured. However, NDTV reported that at least two people were hurt, and that the MiG-27 aircraft was an old one.

A Court of Inquiry has been ordered to be set up to look into the crash.

The pilot of the crashed MiG-27 had requested for a priority landing after finding a technical problem in the aircraft that crashed into a house in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur city on Monday , the Indian Air Force said. The pilot ejected after the engine of the fighter jet failed.

The plane crashed around 11:30 a.m. soon after take off, Press Trust of India reported.

“The MiG-27, which had taken off from Jodhpur Air Force Station, developed some technical problem and hit a locked house in Kuri Bhagtasni housing board at about 11:30 AM,” DM Vishnu Charan Mallik said.

“The pilot ejected safely seconds before the crash,” Mallik added.

“The MiG-27 crashed at 1130 hrs. The aircraft was on a routine training sortie. The pilot ejected safely. A court of inquiry has been ordered to investigate the accident,” Defence Spokesperson Lt Col Manish Ojha said.
