On 27 December the 23 millionth passenger in 2016 was welcomed by Vienna Airport.

Julian Jäger, Member of the Management Board of Flughafen Wien AG, congratulated the airline passenger with a € 500 shopping voucher and a stay at the airport lounge for the entire family.

“23 million passengers were handled by Vienna Airport this year for the first time in the airport’s history. Now a further milestone has been reached following the busiest month and busiest single day ever in terms of passenger volume. We are confident we will be able to achieve our targets for 2016”, says a pleased Julian Jäger, Member of the Management Board of Flughafen Wien AG.

Shortly after 10 a.m., the 23 millionth passenger was handled by Vienna Airport. Ms. Maria Schörkhuber, who after a short farewell from her husband Erich was on her way to meet the grandparents in St. Petersburg together with her children Diana and Daniel, was warmly welcomed by Management Board member Julian Jäger. He handed over a € 500 shopping voucher to the lucky travellers together with a stay in the airport lounge for the entire family.

Two records were already broken by Vienna Airport this year. July 2016 with 2.4 million passengers marked the highest passenger volume of any single month in the airport’s history. Another record was set on September 16, 2016, when the airport handled a total of 89,361 passengers, the highest level ever on a single day. Vienna Airport expects a passenger volume of more than 23 million travellers in 2016.
