Aero Gearbox International (AGI), a Rolls-Royce and Safran Transmission Systems joint venture set up in 2015, has opened a new 145,300 square feet facility in Poland to produce accessory drive trains (ADT) for all future Rolls-Royce commercial aircraft engines.
Located in Ropczyce in the country’s south eastern region, AGI says it plans to take staff numbers up from its starting level of 50 to 200 in the coming years.
ADTs are a component of gas turbine engines, enabling the harnessing of the engine’s power to drive systems and accessories such as fuel pumps, hydraulic pumps and electrical generators.
Production has already commenced on ADTs for the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engine powering the Airbus A350.
Forthcoming projects include future business jet applications and ADTs for the Trent 7000 engine, the option for the A330neo.
