Reading Time: < 1 minuteThe nacelles division of engine manufacturer Safran has delivered the first jet engine exhaust system component for the Boeing 777X aircraft.
Safran Nacelles confirmed delivery of the aircraft’s center body – a unit that contributes to the aerodynamic flow of exhaust from the 777X’s GE9X turbofan engines – from its production facility in Le Havre, France.
Safran Nacelles confirmed is it currently producing a second development unit for delivery to Boeing before the end of 2016. Boeing has scheduled the 777X for a 2020 entry-into-service.
Jean-Paul Alary, the president of Safran Nacelles, said: “On-time deliveries and meeting Boeing’s high expectations are Safran Nacelles’ priorities for this program, and we are fully committed to meeting our commitments on the 777X exhaust system.”
He added: “We’re building a strong and valued relationship with Boeing based on our experience in nacelle integration, and we look forward to additional opportunities to grow our association in the future.”
