Reading Time: < 1 minuteBoeing 777X aircraft program makes further progress moving another step closer to certification. Recently the second 777X test aircraft has performed the maiden flight.
Operated by Capt. Ted Grady, 777X project pilot, and Capt. Van Chaney, 777/777X chief pilot, the plane was airborne above Washington for 2 hours and 58 minutes.
The latest entrant, therefore, will focus on testing “handling characteristics and other aspects of airplane performance.”
After the temporary halt of operations due to the coronavirus crisis, the program is under the ground and flight tests again.
The first flight of the very first Boeing 777X took place on 25 January, 2020. To this moment, this plane has flown for nearly 100 hours “at a variety of flap settings, speeds, altitudes and system settings as part of the initial evaluation of the flight envelope.”
A total of four test aircraft are expected to be involved in a testing program.
