Leisure carrier Small Planet Airlines GmbH has signed an agreement with Thomas Cook, one of the world’s leading travel companies. In the summer of 2016 the aircraft of Small Planet Airlines GmbH will carry Thomas Cook passengers from its Paderborn base in Germany to Mediterranean resorts.
“The cooperation with one of the best known brands in travel, Thomas Cook, is a great honour to us and reassurance that we provide top-quality air travel services,” says Andreas Wobig, CEO at Small Planet Airlines GmbH. He adds that by the beginning of the summer season of 2016 the company is planning to obtain an air operator’s certificate in Germany.
Under the agreement Small Planet Airlines GmbH will operate 460 flights from its Paderborn base and other Germany’s airports: Bremen, Berlin, Stuttgart, Dortmund, Cologne, Hanover, and Munich. Passengers will fly to the Mediterranean resorts, mostly Mallorca in Spain and Antalya in Turkey. The company estimates that it will handle over 100,000 passengers during the summer season.
Günter Geske, the representative of Thomas Cook in Germany, welcomes the future cooperation with Small Planet Airlines GmbH with great favour: “Mediterranean resorts are among the most popular destinations, getting especially busy during the summer season. We have been looking for a reliable partner who would not only meet our needs but also the expectations of future passengers. We are happy to work with Small Planet Airline, starting with our new flights from Paderborn.”
Small Planet Group, the majority shareholder of Small Planet Airlines GmbH, is also operating leisure airlines in Lithuania, Poland and Thailand. The company offers flights to European and Asian passengers by 18 Airbus 320 aircrafts. The first company’s flight in Germany was made earlier this month after signing an agreement with an air broker Involatus Carrier Consulting GmbH. Small Planet Airlines GmbH has also signed an agreement with TUI Deutschland.
