Traveling to the UK from now on will be easier as the United Kingdom removes 87% of countries on its red travel list.

For most of 2021, South Africa has been on the list of these countries. Currently, it will drop off the list along with Mexico, Brazil, and 44 other nations. The following countries that will remain on the list:

  • Colombia
  • Dominican Republic
  • Ecuador
  • Haiti
  • Panama
  • Peru

British Airways CEO Sean Doyle said: “It finally feels like we are seeing light at the end of a very long tunnel. Britain will benefit from this significant reduction in red list countries, and now it’s time to turn our attention to eradicating testing for fully vaccinated travellers.”

The UK government updates travel restrictions every three weeks, meaning the next update is expected on or around Thursday, 28 October.
