Reading Time: < 1 minuteUganda Airlines, after a nearly 20-years break, has taken into the sky for its initial, although not that initial, flight and restored its name of the national carrier.
In 2001 the airline was grounded due to financial problems which lasted for over a decade. Nevertheless, after 18 years, the newly certified airline with two Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft in the fleet has successfully re-commenced its operations.
The first flight was operated from Entebbe to Nairobi. The airline revealed that in the near future it will fly its regional aircraft to Dar-es-Salaam in Tanzania, Mogadishu in Somalia and Juba in South Sudan. Later on more destinations will follow.
Moreover, the airline has two Airbus A330-800 widebodies on order. Probably, with widebody planes in the fleet Uganda Airlines will fly and longer-range destinations.
