Reading Time: < 1 minuteWizz Air, one of the biggest European budget airlines, has confirmed it is about to launch flights to Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the United Arab Emirates, already in June, 2020.
In a post on its official Facebook page, the company said it plans opening five new routes directly connecting Europe with Middle East. Starting from June, Wizz Air is set to fly to Abu Dhabi from Budapest and Bucharest.
Also, from September, the low-cost carrier expects to add three new services from Cluj-Napoca, Katowice and Sofia to Abu Dhabi. However, the company highlighted that launch of these routes depends on “aviation activities resumed in the respective countries”.
“We are proud to be the first European low-cost airline to launch flights to Abu Dhabi. Our local airline, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, is expected to begin operations later this year”, said the budget carrier in a social post.
This short notice also confirmed the fact that Wizz Air is actively moving forward towards establishing a new airline based in the capital city of the UAE – Wizz Air Abu Dhabi.
The local low-cost carrier will be based at Abu Dhabi International Airport and is expected to begin operations later this year.
Wizz Air Abu Dhabi will be the second budget airline of this city. In April, 2020, Air Arabia announced that its new airline Air Arabia Abu Dhabi received Air Operating Certificate (AOC).
