Two Russian Sukhoi Superjet-100 (SSJ-100) airliners manufactured in their VIP modification have entered service with the Thai Air Force.

The inaugural ceremony was held at the military base located at Bangkok’s Don Muang airport. It was attended by Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha. The SSJ-100 planes produced in Russia have joined the 603rd air wing of the Royal Air Force of Thailand.

Two Russian SSJ-100 planes manufactured in their VIP modification were transferred in mid-July in Venetia to the foreign customer represented by the Air Force of Thailand. According to the producer’s data, the plane is divided into three zones: VIP (4 seats), business (6 seats) and standard (50 passengers). The SSJ-100 can fly to a distance of 4,500 km.

Russia’s Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company won the tender for the delivery of two airliners for the Thai Air Force back in 2014.

The sum of the deal has not been disclosed. The catalog price of a standard SSJ-100 equals about $34 million. However, the price of the SSJ-100’s VIP option can range depending on the customer’s requirements for the plane’s interior.
